also - how are you finding the machine on bobby pins / bottle caps etc (any way at all to tell if a quality target) - for instance the 'typical pi' double blip on a bobby pin etc? Have used the ATX extensively and looking at the SDC for water as well :)

Hi Gary and Nenad - thanks to you both for your awesome feedback and great to see some beach finds! Gary - I have had the excal II also and the CTX3030 - both great machines for the beach, but lacking the power of a PI unit. SDC seems to be fairly on par depth wise with the ATX in stock...

i also don't trust that video at all - coming from an an ATX user! I often don't ground balance the ATX and listen through the noise for depth. I cannot think the SDC would not see that chain! Maybe a 'tell' on the video is the guy saying "oh yea, it takes a while to turn on" or words to that...
