I recently bought the ROE backpacker sluice with the 16x6 " mini dream mat in it , and it works well I like the gold rat backpacker sluice also and was tossing up between the two . The goldrat is a bit longer so therefore has a better slick plate area , but i chose the ROE because i can take...

i bought the small backpacker ROE ( Ryan Oldfield engineering ) 6" dream mat sluice , also a good little sluice that is well made like the goldrat mini , about the same price , but detachable flare to make it smaller and more compact , but not the slickplate length before the mat like the...

Electric / Cordless / Battery Powered Chainsaw recommendations

i ended up buying an 18V ryobi brushless from bunnings , cuts fast enough for track clearing or firewood , the pile was cut with a 4ah and 6ah battery on their first charge . I bought the pack that comes with the 4ah and charger ( about $279 ) , but also bought the pack with the 6ah with super...

    A Panners Mate

Bunnings know them as a HAND Cultivator , i know them as a HAND SCARIFIER as in scratching the dirt creating scar like rips in it. if needed would be quite easy to stir dirt in a large pan like a super sluice , and a lot cheaper than $900 odd dollars. Worried about the metal prongs scratching...

    A Panners Mate

??? Rediculous amount of money , get a large bucket / tub and fill with water , drop a good pan like a garrett super sluice into it with material , and go and buy a hand scarifier from bunnings for about ten bucks , and give it a good stir with that . I normally classify my dirt with sieves...

Ive got a Kulkyne king single swag which has a 70mm mattress which i find adequate , though i now throw the swag on one of the kings sumo stretcher ( perfect dimension fit ) and makes it suer comfy now . Maybe go to an upholsterer or clark rubber ( if they still exist) and get a thicker foam...

    Video cameras.. what to buy.

Ive taken plenty of high zoom shots , in the case of my Canon camera i just swivel the viewing screen inwards ( which then automatically activates the eyepiece ) then view through the eyepiece , bracing the camera against my face as a third point of contact . My tripod seems to work fine too...

    Video cameras.. what to buy.

i run a Canon SX50 super compact zoom camera , 50x optical ( up to 200x digital ) and 12Mp photos , 1080p HD video , the later model now for sale is the SX60 ( 65x optical , 225x digital zoom 16MP 1080HD) around the $4-500 mark . if this camera craps out i will probably buy the Nikon P900 , 85x...

    DRONE ZONE

Yep for sure Tathra , common sense applies , if i was ever at risk of causing a problem to anyone id land the drone straight away. Although governed by aviation laws which i think is a good thing , there is nothing to physically stop me putting my R/C glider several km's away and even 2 km up...

    DRONE ZONE

As my mate is there flying non FPV technically he can be regarded as a spotter , which is a pretty stupid rule considering the drone is only 120 metres off the ground . If it was at risk of hitting something like an aircraft at that altitude id be asking more questions of the plane pilot , not...
