    Bucket trommel

Hmmm ... Looking at that pic of the whole thing with it's four legs, I'm seeing a creature squatting to drop a few 'nuggets' of it's own out the back :/ ha ha :D ... Does look good though :) Cheers, Dave E

Got a picker in my pan and a shrimp in my shoe -- yeehaaw!

Ha ha ... I threw it back to grow up :) Besides, it would have been a tight fit in that sample bottle :P

Got a picker in my pan and a shrimp in my shoe -- yeehaaw!

OK ... So there I was near Oallen Ford, finishing a test pan I had dug from a likely looking spot. The usual material was reducing quite nicely ... then my heart skipped a beat! That unmistakeable yellow glint shone out of my pan, saying "HI!" I must have gasped or something, because...

    Update on our grandson Thomas

Hi Rod, Just read through this whole topic thread ... I am sure it has been a tough journey, though recent months have seen such a great and joyous improvement! My girlfriend was diagnosed with cancer in late 2012. Her treatment began with surgery. After a period of recovering from the...

    Wals' Hi-banker Specifications

Since you're in Penrith, you're about an hour closer to the Blue Mountains than I am ... A trip out to Oberon, Hill End, Mudgee or Windeyer (like Retirement Stone) would probably be a great place to start? Personally, I would love to make that journey too -- been thinking about a few trips out...

    Wals' Hi-banker Specifications

Would it be possible to take enough water and containers etc to set up recirculation system? I figure it will be more effort to take the mountain to the water, than the other way around? Just an idea ;) Dave

    Wals' Hi-banker Specifications

Hi Stoney, Great pics of your loot mate. Very nice! Those flakes look fairly coarse to me -- but I guess I'm used to very fine gold in the Shoalhaven. Windeyer area yes? ... That's another area I've been considering myself, but yet to make the trip. Cheers, Dave E

Hi 'Digginholes', I take it you're new in the forum? (only 1 post at the time of this reply). Where are you based? You could put an intro here --> https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewforum.php?id=18 You could also put your first name and general location in your profile details :)...

    Wals' Hi-banker Specifications

Hey Stone ... Looks great mate :) The pump looks like a real beauty! Mine is probably twice the weight for the same throughput. (my choice was more economy rather than weight I guess)

    Wals' Hi-banker Specifications

Having tried 2 other materials to build sluices prior to using aluminium checker plate, I would DEFINITELY recommend using a sturdy sheet metal over any other options. (caveat: I have heard of some sturdy sluices being made from ABS and fibreglass, but for me the sheet metal is definitely easier...

    Funny places to find gold

PS. Wish I had a story like one of the fab ones you guys have shared here so far (but I don't yet). Best I know of, is that one of my great (great?) uncles living in Wedderburn, VIC. sank a shaft in his back yard with a horizontal running off it. My grandma used to regularly wear a nugget...

    Funny places to find gold

Don't want to go too far off topic, but would dams tend to gather a lot of silt and other deposits? (ie. depth of material) If this topic (dam exploration) is discussed in another thread, please point me towards it :) Cheers, Dave E

    Funny places to find gold

Just had the funniest image come to mind -- a bunch of guys with metal detectors, chasing emus around a field
