Had one, it's sensitive but very noisy, also susceptible to EMI. One mistake I made is I used a smaller coil too much, if you have one, just use the stock coil. If meteorite hunting, use the 14" elip.

I wish they gave me more time to decide, is the new 4500 as quiet as the 5000 (all else equal)? If so, that's all you need.

I'm trying to get confirmation on this as it pertains to WA. Read a few posts that the 5000 struggles in laterite country and the 4500 doesn't.

I had to resurrect this old thread just for this post... the 5000's struggle in laterite country? What about the updated 4500? What are peoples' experiences with this?
