    Help identifying these ring markings

Thanks, I'll give them another scan when I can get outside (we live in an apartment) and check the number.

    Help identifying these ring markings

I dug a couple of rings recently in parks. They don't appear to be silver and are probably junkers but they do have some markings on them which I can't identify. Does anyone know what they signify?

    Help identifying this insignia/symbol

Incredible work - thanks casper and the other legends on this forum who put in so much effort to find what this small piece of history means. It's funny how your mind keeps returning to those one or two items you discover but can't quite figure out. The closest I had come was a replica Imperial...

    Help identifying this insignia/symbol

Hi all. Hoping to get some help identifying this piece of interesting jewellry. It clearly seems to be an insignia of some sort, but of what exactly? Found in a park established in 1920s/30s. Thanks.

Edge of water line beach detecting

There's one small patch on a particular beach I sometimes go to that is so mineralised it's close to undetectable... agree it's a great all round machine though. I stretched myself on price when I bought it and glad I did!

Edge of water line beach detecting

The 705 is a bit notorious for not handling the wet sand well. I've only found one 'clean' beach where I can get my sensitivity up around 25 with no falsing. Every beach is different though. I'd love to try the Equinox which is really built to handle it.

Minelab X-terra 705 General Tips, Advice, Questions

It all depends what you hunt for and the nature of the ground. The 705 gives you a lot of options. I like to leave it in all metal although it can be tough going in trashy parks. But that way you get to hear everything and learn what it all means by digging. In the early days it helps to back...

    My finds 2018 by ctxkid

A fantastic piece of history. Would love to find something like that one day.

    Coin shooting in parks

My tip is to keep the sensitivity low (12-15) initially as it can be overwhelming how many targets (and junk) there can be in parks compared to the beach. Pinpointers aren't so necessary on the beach but I found it crucial in parks to help minimise ground disturbance and to speed up retreival.

Coin Shooting Fresh Water X-Terra 705

I'm just getting into parks now. It can be hard work compared to beaches, a lot of digging junk. But there can be more and certainly older coins and interesting relics. I prefer to keep a low profile hunting parks. Even though we all do the right thing, I'd rather not have to explain myself...

Coin Shooting Fresh Water X-Terra 705

If you can just hear the threshold you're about the right level. Headphones (I prefer ear buds) do help. I always hunt in all metal mode on the beach as there's generally not an overload of targets and it's easy to dig. I just like to hear everything at this stage, including the iron. One of...

Coin Shooting Fresh Water X-Terra 705

I was worried about that too, but in practice I've found it just doesn't happen, at least on the beach. Give it a try on your next target. They recommend you switch tracking off when you find a target but when you enter pinpoint mode, it's automatically switched off anyway. Ground balance and...

Coin Shooting Fresh Water X-Terra 705

I also have the 705 and have been detecting for about 6 months, mainly on salt water beaches, which are a great place to learn. The 705 definitely struggles on the wet sand though. I suspect you would still do better to have the machine running in beach mode and leave tracking on. A fresh...
