Greetings I was out and about panning some creeks on the Oz weekend. I came across what looked like grey slate however it was a lot softer. It was easy to separate and break up. Does anyone know what this is and if it would contain any gold? If it has gold in it then am I allowed to break it...

Hi all I was out doing some panning and found some pieces. When it was in the pan it was gold. When I got home it had changed into something else like silver. Anyone know what this stuff is and is it worth keeping? See the pics. Thanks.

Greetings I am sure most people on the forum are familiar with McMahons creek in Vic. Nice spot except for the mozzies the size of cessnas. Anyway. I managed to find some clay towards an inside bend near the bank. Don't worry as a noob I know not to dig the banks. Ended up with a few flakes...
