On Saturday I went prospecting with a mate of mine and was shown a quartz field..or to be more precise..a hill in which one side has quartz and it was strewn along that side of the hill..can i ask what the possibility of gold is within a field like this? I metal detected some of the area and came back with a .22 case..but what is the relationship between quartz and gold? The location was Central Australia

hi ya nikos
there are places with lots of quartz and no gold as there's places with lots of gold but no quartz.
what I'm saying is there is no hard and fast rules when chasing gold, but it can't hurt to check it out anyway.
regards trashy
