Hi I have been mucking around with a highbanker sluice box for the last twelve months and although I have found plenty of tin in my creek I have found no gold but I know there is none there. I have been changing things around trying to get it working at its bests before I head out to a proper gold field. I started off trying to make a dredge and can still use it as a dredge. Then I had it on a frame with legs and then decided to make it on a trailer to tow behind the my Grizzly quad and I can put my tubs and tools on it as well

I still have a couple of more off shoots for the screens to divert the tailings away and need to fit another spray bar on the second screen to mover the gravel down it quicker. I wast toying with the Idea of adding another 1m long sluice tray 90 degrees to the bottom of the main sluice tray with just rubber riffle matting in it to catch the real fine stuff.

The top hopper with the spray bars has 25mm scree
Under the 10mm middle screen there is fine rippled carpet. In the main sluice there is proper miners moss with a nugget trap at the start. I have plenty of water to add more bars as the pump does more than enough at High Idle.

Does any one else on here dabble in this kind of thing that can give me a few pointers?
I tried to post pictures but it wont let me for 10 posts or something

The above is called a Walbanker, the designer Wal is a respected member and former moderator of the forum, he has gladly provided the plans and specs to build your own in the following topics.

The recommended pump (for best portability) seems to be the Honda WX15, it weighs bugger all and quite easily delivers enough water for this type of highbanker. More info on this pump here https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=5008

I had an Israeli made snowboard backpack that you can take the bag off, works a treat. I run a $210 Thornado cheap Chinese 2.5hp 12000L per hr petrol, its a wee ripper, so far.

I went with the assumption he's from overseas but certainly well worth pointing out.

No from North Qld. I am aware I cant dredge on a permit in Australia but there are some tributaries of the Palmer river you can dredge on If its under a mining lease and Ive got permission to dredge on that lease?. I have tried it as a dredge to prove it works but have gone much further into constructing it as an large atv trailer mounted high banker so I can use it at other places

The rocks are smaller then 20mm on that screen and at the moment, I have trouble getting them to clear of the screen quick enough. I will try another spray bar and will be adding a chute below it, to divert the material to the side away from the Axle
