Hey guys,
I found this little black rock metal detecting.
It gave a weak signal.

I has a slight attraction to a normal fridge magnet (I don't have a neodymium magnet yet)
And it also past the streak test.

I know it's a long shot, but what should I do next?
Can someone confirm it's just a rock before I make myself look silly? :)

G-Day Stoney might be a bit of ironstone if its magnetic we get a lot of it around here I usually give them a hit with a hammer to see if there is a bit of gold on the inside. But don't bust it if you think its something better.

Thanks guys, I found it on farm land near wagga, that I've been detecting for the past week, it's the first rock of any type that I've dug here.

I'll look into ironstone, cheers

Is it common for ironstone to occur in non-gold areas?

I'll look into ironstone, cheers

Here's a few shots from my USB microscope.

I can see little metallic specks, and possible chondrules?
