I bought a 'for parts not working' Garrett A2B a few years ago, just needed a battery tray and all was good.
The owner lost the battery tray just months after he purchased the machine, lost interest and packed it away in the closet..
Moving house years later it ended up on the front lawn for his Sunday morning garage sale. Luckily I knew him and he wanted the use of our work ute for the day. Lucky me.. Found the brand new battery tray at Treasure Enterprises Australia, who originally sold the machine, bought a few other bits and pieces so in the end I'm a happy chappy.. Fired it up and it works well for an old girl. Could this be the cleanest A2B?

My father had one of these in 1984, I used to go to all the local schools and have a great time, rich pickings in those days.

Brings back so many memories..

All the best,
Karelian

The older detectors becoming quite collectable these day, probably moreso in the the States than here, with the "closet queen" attracting a decent premium, yours barely looks to have seen any action. Would be good as a talking piece in a den or shed for those reminiscing of years gone by. One day I would like to own another pristine Whites VSat or GM3 again, they were the first gold detectors I longed for looking through the pages of the old Gold Gazettes - I ended up with a Minelab XT17000. ;)

Hi folks, I'm trying to refurb an old Garrett A2B and have come across a problem, I'm in need of a good used (or new) battery tray or the card that holds the batteries in the tray. I'd be very grateful if anyone knows where I might source one.
TIA

Very hard part to find. I found a near new A2B, but no battery tray. Got one from Treasure Enterprises Australia, but they are no longer trading. Again, very hard to find. An opportunity for someone with a 3D printer? Good luck with the refurb on the A2B, These detectors are real classics.
