I thought that they were all .925, maybe the other 7.5% is different or maybe it's just the extra 50 odd years in the ground. I've also noticed that the Victorian silvers seem to be in way worse condition than most of the Aussie ones round here.
 
Its key date the 1910 three pence.First year of its mintage.Can be worth from $20 to $35.

Got out again yesterday during a rare fine break between the persistent rain showers..... crikey, the weather has been crap here lately :cloudy:
Anyway, no coins this time, but still dug some interesting stuff.
I would particularly like to know what the brass shield is from.... there are no markings on it at all.

The site is a historical farm which morphed into a early petrol stop come repair shop in the 1920/30s. Some old and not so old finds there.

Pretty sure that shield goes on leather on a horse, like decoration. I could be wrong
