Anyone know what this is?I have seen something like this before,maybe even on this forum but cant for the life of me remember what it is.

Upside down miss Jane

What you have there is the corresponding part to an old doir lock.... the part that goes on the door surround.... the bit the tounge fits in that helps to hold the door locked
