Very New to This

Hi all,

Just bought our first Detector! I thought it would be fun for the family and give us an excuse to be outdoors!

We live in Victoria (Melbourne) and hope to start exploring soon. Just need to workout where to start!

At the risk of getting blasted for buying a machine that everyone laughs at....we just bought a MineLab Vanquish 540 Pro (5" and 12" heads)

As a family we just want the fun of being together and a little excitement.

Keen to hear any recommendations on where to do our first fossick! It would be great to find a little gold nugget (super small is okay - it's the excitement of finding anything really)

Hi. I own the same detector and can tell you it's not a bad, but not as good as the xterra little unit. Never tried finding gold with it, but finding coins it does the trick. I turn off every number except for the numbers that find $1 and $2 coins plus some jewellery numbers. Personally I can't be bothered digging ring pulls and 5c pieces!
