That wouldnt suprise me going of the limited advertising minelab have released so far. I wonder how long the waiting list will be? If anything like the recent playstation 5 release during covid it might be a few months wait after you order, if not part of the first shipment

US price $7499 is $9673 Aud before discount, Smells fishy to me... Talking ZED price for the 6K if it's true! ]:D :poop:

Relax Joeboy,
The detectors are made/ distributed from here in Aust so you take the exchange rate difference ( approx 25%) OFF the US price not add on.
You would add on the exchange rate if you were buying from the US so the pricing is looking about the estimated Aus $7,500 ish.
What is interesting is the discount the US dealers are offering, I would assume they are expecting a big rush and each dealer wants to get the lions share so they normally have 30 to 40 % margins in their products with no discount on the detector ( discounts between the dealers in OZ anyway are done by free accessories) where as the US dealers appear to be playing hardball by using their better exchange rate against the oz $ to offer discounts on the detectors. Thats the first time Ive seen direct discounting from private owned Minelab dealers anywhere in the world. The old Covid must be making life tough in the US that's for sure, between Covid, Elections and mean winters, things are pretty quiet over there.

Steve H over on DP forum explained RRP and MAP.

RRP is the same as Australia - Recommended Retail Price. That is what Minelab suggest is a reasonable price to charge. For the GPX 6000 in the US that is $7,499.

MAP is Minimum Advertised Price. That is the minimum that dealers can advertise the price. For the GPX 6000 in the US that is $6,000.

So, almost all dealers are likely to advertise at the $6,000 price otherwise they are going to be missing out on sales.

$6,000 US is roughly $7,900 here so $1,500 ish below GPZ price.

Apparently the MAP is the minimum advertised price and once speaking directly with the dealer they can sell the detector for cheaper than that or throw in as many extras as they like - they just can't legally advertise below that price.

But that is all in the US. I'm not sure about how all of this pertains to Aus.

I'll try to link in Steve's explanation - might be better than mine :Y:

I have heard from a reliable source (today) that the 6K is gong to be $7999 in Australia.

Instead of a speculative video, there's some brief but fresh actual 'hand's-on' comments and discussion here:

Quick Air Test Of GPX 6000

And finally a comparison by ML with the zed!!

(Apologies in advance for stealing the pic :playful: )

C'mon.... 5 stars to the 6000 and 1 star to the 7000 for .05 nuggets?? My Zed picks up .04 down to around 100mm size all day long, clear as day. :playful:
Going off that it means the gpx6000 will find them at 500mm. How much fun will that be, a half meter hole to find a 0.05g nugget!
My hope is it handles salt and ground moisture better than the Z
Crikey we are getting picky. If its gold I'll dig it. Big, small whatever? Beggers cant be choosers. :pickshovel:

That looks a little suss ..... too many spelling errors to be legit.

Pre order $$$$$ will be well and truely spent in Russia by release date.

May be wrong, just my uneducated guess.

I did notice the spelling mistakes. I remember seeing one and at least one very bad use of english.

P.s. truly* ;)

They seem to have a presence on youtube and facebook, so who really knows? I know i dont want to find out from personal experience though

When they're out cant wait! I want one. Its a Minelab so its going to be good. If its an SDC on steroids yeah, hay, a 5000 that doesnt need to be changed on settings yeah! Will only complement my SDC which is awesome. My young bloke has a 7000 so should be all covered.

Cheers, Muk.

My wish list for the ideal GPX 6000! operates smoother then 'sensitive smooth' crisper then 'sharp' on all targets, punches deeper then 'relic mode' & eats EMI for breakfast :perfect: If it doesn't have all these features...I will only buy one of them. :playful:
