for perspective, I thought I would add this pic of Kal's mountain from the southern end.
I think all or most people who have been to Kal have seen the Super-pit, but the mountain of over-burden is just as spectacular

Gibraltar Falls
Cows again.
Somewhere in Nth East Sth Australia.
On the way in to wherever I was going I hit this particularly bad patch of sand. I was plodding along at about 40 k's when all of a sudden I was not really moving forward much. Dropped gear and floored it and thankfully made it through.
On the way back the next day I was keeping an eye out for it as I wanted to pick up a bit of speed before crossing it. As I approached the patch there was a cow in the middle of the track. About dead center of the sandy patch.
Reckon it took me about 10 minutes of trying to move it on before it racked of to wherever it came from. All the while thinking, I hope I gt to eat you somewhere down the line.
Crossed and moved on.
