New to the group

Just wanted to introduce myself to the group. I'm living in the Brisbane area and would like to know if anyone has done any trips to Copeton and how they found it?

I used to live in Copeton Village around 1968 as my Dad was working on Copeton Dam. I remember finding sapphires around the fossicking areas of Inverell and selling them to a dealer in Inverell for around $2 - $5 We had no idea what they were worth, but that was incredible money for a 10 year old boy.

Anyhow, I'm looking to go back to this area and do some detecting, panning, fishing or fossicking. So, I'm looking to join a group or anyone who is interested in this area (or other) My wife thinks it's too cold and my kids aren't interested in digging in the dirt!

If anyone is heading out and would like some company, I'm up for the trip. (based in SE Queensland, but willing to travel to Northern NSW)
