there was a diamond pipe / mine at Bingara years ago too people

last i heard it had been filled in and used as a rubbish dump

Quite a few there Headsup and over around Copeton Dam also. A lot of Diamonds were won from them but..... very few and far between for the average fossicker, unless very lucky or very determined.

The odd one pops up now and then around Inverell for fossickers I've heard.

could be good for night specking.............

nice idea

does anything else show up under the black light ?

Some Diamonds will, I think about 10% of them, some quite brightly. Quite a few other minerals will, but most Rubies will apart from ones from a certain region in I think Burma which contain traces of Fe which re-absorbs any light output.

Not sure if you noticed this thread? https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3437

Check out my last post in this thread too, pic of a Diamond ring fluorescing. The centre stone is a Cognac Diamond the others are White diamonds.

Hey Paul, I noticed the circled area in that pic is also an old Iron mine, comes up as that on the Google Earth overlay I'm using. Not sure if you have this overlay data set but it contains a wealth of info all georeferenced.

http://dwh.minerals.nsw.gov.au/CI/warehouse , if you don't have it and want it, click directly on the Earth symbol (not next to it), when the browse window pops up, click browse and open with Google Earth and you'll have a bunch of geological maps and deposit markers for nearly every gem, metal, industrial deposit in NSW. Even assay, drill hole, and field observation data.

When you close GE hit save, the website says not to save it, if you don't save it you have to reload it everytime.

To the right of GE you should now have extra folders with all this data.
