Amazing array of gems and minerals, guys! Love this thread!

Thanks for that Megsy.
As long as my posts are being appreciated I will keep them coming.
I have barely made a dent in the sheer number of pics I downloaded from the OP's Facebook page.
I had to do a lot of work downsizing the pics so they didn't take up all the space on our servers.
Wait until you see some of the pics to come!

Wish I got the chance to visit this place in Naica, Mexico... Giant Selenite Crystals, Deadly but Beautiful...

Giant Crystal Cave was discovered in April 2000 by miners excavating a new tunnel for the Industrias Peoles mining company located in Naica, Mexico, while drilling through the Naica fault, which they were concerned would flood the mine. The mining complex in Naica contains substantial deposits of silver, zinc and lead .

Unfortunately the Mining Company has now turned off the pumps in 2015, due to the cost of Power and they are now flooded again.... Never to be seen again.. 8.(

They have now discovered some more that they believe to be an extension of the previously discovered Caves... Hopefully these new ones will be preserved for ever... :/

Discovery also made a great Doco on them titled, "Naica, Beyond the Crystal Cave" Best Doco I have seen on them...

Wow If only  ...
The largest precious gemstone ever found, yet unfaceted, is the Bahia Emerald weighing approximately 840lbs (381kg) (containing more than 180,000 carats) originated from Bahia, Brazil and is emerald crystals embedded in host rock. It was subsequently reported stolen in September 2008 from a secured vault in South El Monte in Los Angeles County, California. The stone has been valued at some $400 million, but the true value is unclear. At one point, the emerald was listed for sale on eBay for a "Buy It Now" price of $75 million....

And a link to a very interesting Legal Battle on Ownership of the above Emerald... :D

Since that find, there is another Emerald found, even bigger.. Value of this one is around $1 Billion Dollars...
