Afternoon all
Dick here from east coast tassie
Im definitely new to prospecting, however my grandfather was a gun when it comes to gem hunting (one of his published books)
Ive got the bug and some basic gear
About to do a road trip around the state mostly east and south so any tips would be appreciated
Hope to find even the smallest specks of gold
I have a great specimen over 30g that the old boy found and then lost in a house fire
I was about 10 yrs old and managed to scratch around and find it again?
Cheers dick

Gday DD, the South and East is not really known for gold, most of that comes from the north and west. Have a look at the map viewer on the MRT tasmania website and add the layer 'mineral occurrences ' to see where gold has been found in the past.

I liked the look of the country around Queenstown 'Dickdodd'.

You would need permission from the mine admin to go on the lease.

You'll find the quartz doesn't weigh much.

You said it was a 30 grammer, i would guess about 45. Nice piece. :perfect:

G'day Dickdodd welcome to PA :Y: that sure is some nice eye candy :perfect: all the best when you get a chance to get amongst it

Well
Dont think I will get the chance anytime soon
Nice shiny little bit of fire/melting but I was so glad when I found it
I thought I would get robbed as a kid, walking
Up the Main Street of Campbell town haha
Granddad was stoked when I gave it back to him
? cheers
