Hi All

I live in Sydney but frequent Perth to visit family/in laws. Past couple of trips I went on a 4wd excursion up around the Paynes Find/Yalgoo area.
My first foray into Outback Australia. And it left an impression on me.

As a really young kid Id collect rocks (quartz etc). Then as I got older, priorities change. School, work, family.
Now the fossicking feeling has come back and brought me to this forum.

Ultimately Id like to get out and try everything - gold prospecting, old relic detecting, gemstones/minerals etc.
Ultimate goal to find something worth passing on to my daughters.

Im literally at Step 0 - no equipment and very little knowledge.
So I am looking forward to chatting to you all.

Have a good one :Y:

There's plenty of good camping spots within 4hrs drive of you.
And lucky for you some might now have water in them.
Have a good read on reviews of prospecting/ camping equipment.
Either the Garret super sluice kit or the mine lab pan kit are your best starting investment.
And grab one or two snuffer bottles.
Top end of detector market I beleive is the SDC Minelab series and up.
And some good VLF detectors available now.
But if plan on doing a few WA trips......
The SDC or GPX minelab are brilliant. :pickshovel:

Thanks Anniegee, look forward to meeting everyone.

Cheers for the inform mudgee hunter. Trying to convince the mrs to do some camping. So thats a challenge in itself.
But Ill get there ...eventually.
I didnt realise how many brands of detectors out there.

Gotta say - youtube has some great vids and information. Lovin it.

My cook could not understand the detecting thing at first.
But after her first few relics..... loves it.
The Minelabs hold a VERY good resale value if you look after it and decide to sell it later.
