Dehydration possibly, that combined with heat can have a detrimental effect on ones cognitive abilities, similar to low blood sugar levels, hypothermia etc.

Its a bit sus that fellow... He has been found and now the Police think it was all stagged ... Found about 15km away in good health...

yeah, on the news they were saying it appeared he may have been hiding from the search parties! .. didnt want to be found

Bloody disgusting, if the Police can prove it they should charge him and send him the bill. Searches cost and pose varying levels of risk to all concerned.

Found 3.5km from homestead and still had the jackrussel with her. A good ending. :Y:

Or on their little coastal island. He lives in the small country area of Waroona, has a population of 3000. Is an experienced 4x4 driver but may have miscalculated the amount of fuel needed as the area has had record rain fall this season.

i wish they would put signs out side of the citys telling you the dangers of leaving your protective little city lives and how when you get lost or break down wander off how many people have to waste their time to find you for all your stupid choices

Sounds like he was fairly well prepared and competent but his fuel miscalculation and failure to carry appropriate communication devices resulted in a costly rescue. A sat phone or epirb would have made the search and rescue easier.
