How are you going to clean that button, as they're very fragile?

I just soaked it in vinegar.. The backing was corroded badly and the front is pretty toasted but I will get a pic up..

Got out last night for a dig even though it was a hide tide.. Concentrated my efforts where I found the threepence.. Definitely a spot that will give up more finds as the sand and stones shift.

Great ring. Does seem older than 1960s. Congrats!

The smiley $1 is pretty cool
I wonder why they made it upside down after all that work

If it's hanging from your neck and you pick it up to look at it holding the chain .

Been out a couple of times over the last week and got a few finds, checked tides and thought I would miss the low tide so dressed for dry sand detecting.
When I got to the beach the tide was still low so I checked the timetable again and it said high tide... Next time I will prepare myself better.

Got out last night for a swing at the local beach, after an hour of silence with no beeps I changed the threshold to 8 on the nox from 4 and was soon pinging signals, a few coins gathered up before hitting the silvers spot.
Another thrippy 1961 and a penny, half penny in rather good shape.
Still don't know why one area has the older coins but it is still a spot to be worked over as the sand shifts.

Nice one mate... :)
The threshold wouldn't of had anything to do with no signals mate.. :Y:
Also you probs already know but you don't need the threshold on beach mode or any other mode .Though it can be beneficial in some areas in prospecting mode.
Love the busters :perfect:

Reckon that is an old copper boat nail with washer. I get heaps of similar ones around boat building sites on the river near where I live.

Meg mentioned an old boat, the screws that are there as well would be from the same source. Cheers Dave :Y:

It's a copper boat nail fitted with a rove. The rove is a small copper disc placed on the nail after it is driven into the hull and the rove is then driven down the nail very tightly, the nail is cut off and riveted over with a hammer. A very common method of building clinker boats. Could be remains of an old boat that has disintegrated there.
