Hey GH I believe that type/design thorn type pipes can be attributed to one person Ebenezer Church 1877...

The pipe bowl above is dated betwee 1890 - 1910

Thanks mate.

That is so interesting, and I didnt even have to swing a detector to find mine... just a mouse. smile

All from one pipe design.
I guess the pattern gave a user a much more tangible grip with its texture.

Well I took the kiddies to the beach today with the wife and had a play around with the new toy.
Very easy machine the Nox and it performed well.. I did find the multi frequency to sound chattery but otherwise it was great.
The targets were over 14 to 16 inches deep as I had it on Max sensitivity... I managed to get in the water for 15 minutes and dang it was cold but the nox performed well again finding a super deep target. I was very hopeful of a ring but it was some kind of shoe buckle.

Well I got out for a dig late last night to hit the low tide and to give the nox a good testing. For the first 2 hours nothing but trash but that's to be expected with the amount of sand banks. I did manage to get some coinage and each one was a yesss yahoo moment. The depths of the coins were crazy, I won't even guess the average depth.
Hanging out for the summer months...

1565073166_img_20190806_162656.jpg

One other thing was my badazz scoop bending.. Never would I have thought it would bend like it did, too much pressure from rock hard sand. Lol
Until next time happy digging.

Got out for a swing today in the wind and rain. There were a few sunny breaks and we had the beach huts for cover. A few coins around with the long stretching cuts. The ring was in a chunk of grassed area at the back of the huts, a real lucky ? find.

Abraham under cover till the rain stopped.

1565422083_fb_img_1565421629906.jpg

Found this within the first hour and lumped it in my backpack for a good 45 mins...

Feeling a little sore but also feeling satisfied.

Finally got some good weather here so got out with the two young ones, Abraham and Aaliyah.. Hit a nice deep target and ring a ding ding popped up.. But the treasure of the day was a little shy turtle, freshly hatched by the look of him/her?

Got out today before the rain came and it poured down, 30 minutes after I get home Sunshine and not a cloud in sight... There were alot of deep targets, faint and scratchy so I left some of them preferring to dig the solid tones. I wish I had dug all of them now because most of them were coins, even managed to get a kinder surprise a sixpence caked with sand and peebles soaking in white vinegar.

Looking forward to my next adventure...

A rub with bicarb paste should get rid of most of that, looks like it was pretty new when lost, plenty of detail thumbsup

Heya Dave, yup done bicarb... She was crusted with sand and grit, one of the worst I have come across, a little more TLC needed... thumbsup

Well I got out today for an hour to a spot that produces goldies in the same area all of the time during summer and it didn't disappoint again... Surprise old ring find even though it is only bling.
The sixpence I had soaking is finally cleaned with an unrecognisable silver... big_smile
The update on the nox 600 is good but I will test it tonight on the low tide which is down to 0.1 metres, should be able to get out 30 or so metres from the beach low tide mark.
