I think same will happen with ford px2 rangers as well. We have just sold ours after fuel economy was twice as hefty as previous px1. 13 to 15lt per 100km round town and towing van 19 to 24lt per 100km. Our previous unit, same motor, trans towing same van figures were cround town 7.6 to 8ly per 100km and towing 11.5 to 13lt per 100km at its very worst. And at higher speeds on open road too.
New ranger was cost prohibitive. Ford would do nothing even though they had it for many numerous days at a time.

Ugh, this class action lawsuit will insure that we don't get a diesel 2.8L Tacoma any time soon here in the states with its DPF problems. Ford has a small diesel, Dodge, and chev/gmc. A lot of us been wanting diesel tacoma for a long time, one firm in Texas builds them from parts from outside the USA.

There is a new fuel injector that may revolutionize diesel engines soon in the auto industry as well as heavy equipment. Ducted Fuel injectors.

These injectors can even be used in older vehicles for cleaning up soot and emissions, as well as increased mpg. They should be good enough to not have to use diesel particulate filters nor def fluid. Would be awesome. This technology would allow removal of 12,000.00 in emission controls from the average diesel truck. Making initial cost much cheaper.

Caterpillar recently stopped supply of their Diesel engines for trucks because they didnt want to step up to meet new emissions laws.

Think of the numbers involved here...

They will probably wait until a european manufacturer designs an appropriate technology then buy them out and put CAT stickers on them like they did with MWM
