Their names were actually James and George (Rowan) if this is correct. Town laid out and land sold in 1857.
 
Correct Goldierocks, the brothers were farmers in the area before the town was proclaimed. Glenrowan was where the Kelly Shoouout took place.

Not Melbourne. This one had one name, changed to that of a British politician, then reverted to its first name. It is that intermediate name that I am chasing.
