Arrived home yesterday after nine days wandering around one of my favourite prospecting properties. This trip was a little different to earlier visits in that more time was spent exploring known camp sites dating back to the mid 1850's that were located while detecting for gold. As it panned out it was quite rewarding with some interesting finds that included; an 1857 Professor Holloway penny token in reasonable condition, a chinese coin, an interesting cricket buckle, a Mosses Levy buckle, probably of a pair of trouser bracers and half of another token from a Melbourne Outfitter. Through the coming season there is quite a lot of history in the area that will be worth spending more time checking out the different locations, in all a fun trip.
Cheers, Sinhof.

Gday mate, good to have you back on the pages ;)
Have been thinking of you a bit lately ... being the begining of gold season
Nice finds :Y:
Gee theres been a few buckles on here in recent times
That ones a beauty too , still got plenty of gilding on it

Evening Sandta,
Last week was an interesting trip between gold and relic detecting, found enough of the yellow metal to cover the cost of the trip plus a bit for a rainy day.
The relic side of detecting has a huge potential, some of the documented history I have found dates back as far as 1852, we have found the remains of an old homestead dating back to those times, had a quick swing around the yard for a few minutes on the way past to another location, need to get back there when more time is available, too many prospects and not enough time, hopefully this season the relic side of detecting will command some extra effort.
Cheers, SinHof.

The cricket buckle looks amazing with all that gilt still on it, and a good selection of goldfield coins/relics too. :perfect:

Thanks for the kind comments guys, as you may imagine this little detectorist is pretty keen to get back to the bush and see what else can be recovered. It's odd how the mind/body works, after nine or ten days and a few night swings of hard detecting, you flop into the drivers seat for the drive home pretty stuffed thinking enough is enough. By the time your half way home your as keen as again and planing the next trip, marvelous how a good trip with a few nice finds keeps you keen.
Cheers, SinHof.
