Looks like a nice design on that ring as well...Awesome mate... :Y:
Thanks Art , yeah it has a beautiful design , hopefully the cab will clean it up so We can see the full design . Looks like its been in the ground for a while so cleaning it up will be a bit of a process :)

Gooday Gents, after a couple of days sitting in juice and clr to no avail , I decided to clean the ring found in my last hunt in the coin tumbler . Done the trick , revealing a nice ornate pattern and a couple of hallmark indentations , with some lettering to the left.

On the hustings - consist of 3 hunts . Have not included coinage - still cleaning them up .

First detecting session

One of the rings looks goldish , could be plated .

Second session was tough going - just the usual coinage , but managed to detect this intricate silver cross complete with chain .

And last nights hunt

First target was a ring , second target another ring , third target a pendant . Almost went home then , not much detected after that except the odd coin.

The diamond gold ring I thought might be plated but it seems the markings indicate gold and platinum or 18ct platinum .

Anyways happy hunting

Nice hunting Dan, with platinum and gold in the same ring it usually means that any gold used on areas of the ring are 18ct and any other parts are platinum. platinum is never represented in K or CT that I know of, usually represented as 950 or 900. Could possibly be 18CT and plated with platinum??

Well done on that find though.

With some Antique rings it was common to represent 18ct Gold with a CT and the Platinum used to hold the stones in place. But its the best I can gleam from the internet, their are variations in explanations to the markings . valentinasantiquejewellery.com.au have explanations of the markings but also an almost identical example to the ring I detected , circa 1930.

King Regards Heatho

Goodday fellas, been struggling for motivation of late . Anyways managed to get out for a snorkel at a site Silver pinpointed on google earth . Detector used was the Knox . Ring found is just 18k plated (wish the stone was real!) , minature gold bangle is marked , but cant make it out - could be 93%. Here are the pics.

Thanks Smokey - water was warmer than air temperature - so it was okay . Forgot to mention the ring was not found in the water , but most of the rest was .

Smokey I guess Id been moping around the house not being over in West OZ - work pressure has been immense to the point of crippling , and to put the icing on the cake Ive strained my mcl . Wife had enough and told me to get out of the house .

so I thought to put less weight on the knee I would go into the water - didnt go to deep though .

You've done well Dan... that's better than a kick in the pants strain in the mcl mate.
best looking water therapy result I think I've ever seen
:p :Y:

Its a good spot that - I did venture over the top of the first structure to have a look at the second but the water was a bit murky and decided to turn back . Happy with the hunt, and thanks for the info Silver :Y:

Out and about tonight - bit of rain to keep cool along with a descent low tide . Not much about in coinage but picked a few unusual jewellery items .
Detector used ctx.
Here are the picks

The white gold ring is Arabic - if anyone can read the inscription please let me know what it says - also picked up an amethyst ring ( to go into the cab to read the hallmark) and another toe ring. The Arabic looking chain and earing are unusual- earing looks like bull horns , and the necklace/chain looks like its been in the brine for a while. Anyways happy hunting.

Good as gold eh Dan.... :money: :goldnugget: :gemstone:
Just thought I'd add... if we have a dry winter the water will clear up nicely for a looksee out deeper for you... a full wetsuit makes it not so cold and shakey (not that I've dived for a lifetime now) ;) :Y: :perfect:
