Gday everyone so I own an sd2200d and was told dd coils suit this machine the best

Im mostly looking for a good coil to cover as much ground as possible but I dont want to lose signal on smaller nuggets

I saw they sell a nugget finder 25 inch dd coil

That would really suit my beach work but Im more curious how well it would goon gold?

Now from what I can read its good on deep big gold

But what about small shallow gold??

Will it cut out the little stuff?

Ok so correct me if Im wrong but I just wanna make sure Im using it correctly

Start up machine on

Coil up in air pointing towards most interference

Auto tune 1 minute 3 beeps

Coil down flick to tracking pump coil until it stabilises

Scan until signal is heard

When signal heard flick tracking to fixed

Settings I use

All metal mode
Both channels
Threshold 3/4 way over
Tone half way

After Auto Tune, lower coil to ground and hold still, then adjust threshold to a faint but smooth hum.

Also I would run it in the Deep setting.

The rest is correct.

Have fun :pickshovel:

This is the biggest catch 22 when it comes to prospecting. Have a look at the Detech 15" DD Ultimate. Still very sensitive on small gold.
Another good patch coil on the 2200 would be a Commander 15x12" DD. The old 16" Nugget Finder DD fibreglass coils would probably match up great to a 2200, but they are rare to find these days. They occasionally pop up, but are pretty beat up - very rare to find one in good condition. I wouldn't go any bigger than that.

G'day everyone so i did this really cool mod to my sd2200d.

By utlising everything velcro on the side of the machine it balances the weight of a heavier coil and means everything is now on the machine, no more harness and cords.

I've also got a set of external speakers that i use too sometimes.

Anyways what i did was got a 4.5AH 6V battery and modified the terminals

ok i am currently testing out the 25 inch dd coil.

hopefully it works well out in the goldfields this weekend!

It does go very very deep though i'm not sure if i'm keen on digging a 1.5 metre hole out bush haha

Took the coil for a spin today out bush and had no dramas, picked up 0.5g at 30cm deep and while it was a very weak signal, hard to spot i got it in the end.
