Hey All,

Been awhile between hunts but I have still been following the posts. I finally had the funds to get a Nox and got the 600 due to affordability and less free time to detect. Took it out for the first time with the daughter this arvo for an hour and was quite happy with a nice walk and a bit of fun. Great way to spend time with the kids and I had almost forgotten how relaxing it could be when you have no goals just time to swing and talk!!!

Did not dig too much yet. Was only really after ice cream money but will certainly take it to one of my pre dec sites soon.

Got out again this afternoon after work with my middle Son and just dabbled for some more 1 & 2 dollar coins. Decided to dig a 27 (if I recall correctly) and found an old button (stokes and sons, Victoria) in really good condition.

Once again a relaxing time out with my boy and definitely be out again sometime this weekend!!! :D

Hey Diablo,

Nice to meet you!

I would love to find info on it too but have come up empty handed so far.

Do you detect around town much?

Mike.

Mike,
Yeh, I had no luck in identifying either.
I usually do all my practise around the local hills. Anytime I get a chance, I at least have the Tesoro Diablo in the car to swing around old reserves etc. even do some of the local beaches (away from the busy areas). My main interest is really the old gold fields in the local area. Another type of area I get interested in are the old 'lovers lanes' from my younger days, always the odd earring, bit of pocket money,,,,just never know.
There seems to be a lot of detector operators around, it is a shame that some don't seem to fill holes. Some of the areas, especially old stock reserves, that I have tried to get access to are off limits due to poor practices by previous operators.
Best of luck,
Cheers
Diablo

Mike,
Just been looking at some of the info added by Goldpick, and rechecking the image of your button and I might suggest that yours maybe gilt. Worth a closer look. If they are just brass then could be a general service issue, 1899-1901. Thanks again Goldpick!
I must check the diameter of mine and check against those stated in the list per the links.
Cheers
Diablo

Got out this afternoon with the Daughter before another dust storm hit and managed a few coins...

And finally a small stone memorial that I found out in the middle of nowhere between Wagga and Narrandera today on the way home from a trip with the family ...

Got out again with the Daughter while the wife and two boys were having dinner and was amazed that I was still finding coins at a spot I have hit hard many times before...

Loads of targets deeper but the ground is so dry I dont want to dig any holes more than an inch or two!

Mike.

Might be some older coins around at depth going by that ol Martini-Henry cartridge - guess you will have to hold out for some rain. :D

Got out for two hunts over the last few days and added to the tallies. First was back at the previous park I have been going too and managed my first rings for the Nox...

My first silver for the Nox and an old Rotherham watch plate.

Again we really need some wet stuff not just to be able to get deeper targets but it is sooooo dry out here and cannot imagine how it is in places that are even worse off. :argh:

Mike.
