not always double struck Silver, this appears to be a collar strike, when the collar isnt set right in the die.

After noodling through about $10,000 worth of dollar coins I finally completed the Great Australian Coin Hunt set.Found all bar 3 of the coins by noodling,and as my wife and I spent 4 days in Canberra over new year I purchased the last 3 at the Royal Australian Mint along with the album.Also as we visited on January 1st,I was lucky enough to mint 2 of the first $1 coins for the new decade.Signed to authenticate by the CEO of the mint Mr Ross Macdiarmid.

Popped up today in my change.

Still in good nick as you might expect. I like the colour prints.

Not sure what to make of this one, its in bad shape but found while looking for 3.5 claw 20c from same year. Anyone care to cast an opinion on this happening during or after mintage?

Scored this from the reject shute at the banks coin deposit machine after work today.

Hi just came across this thread and know nothing about coins but thought I would have a go. I had to deposit a cheque today and had a $10 note in my wallet so changed it for 20c coins. The first in the roll was a 1966 but didn't seem special. But there was also this 1981 coin and checked to see if it was a 3 1/2 claw. Seems to me like it only has 3 claws so googled it and one is on ebay for $150. Is it something special? Looking at the photo it also seems to have a slight rim defect on the right of the photo but that might be my imagination!. Cheers

got this nice 1920 penny, not only is it a double dot but a clipped top edge.
i do have a few more other pre-decmils when i find the folder ill post up some more pics of others.

Judging by the photo it's definitely a single dot but I don't see the double dot. Still a very nice coin. :Y:
