Where do I detect?

Im lost where I should try to detect. Everywhere Ive tried all Ive found is junk. Im located in diamond creek North east suburbs in Melbourne.

Try Rushworth, Whroo, Golden Triangle - Bendigo, Ballarat, Marysborough etc.

Find old gold maps online and go to the places where it was found. The old timers didn't find it all.
You need to do some research first, mate. You need to work out if there are licences on areas before you go there, or if it's in a national park etc that are no-go areas.
Go to Geovic online. There's a YouTube video that shows how to use it, that's very helpful.

And yes, you'll find a lot of junk - like everyone else does - it's part of detecting. Ask any detectorist how much junk they've found compared to good stuff!

Perhaps go to a forum meet up and do some detecting with others on the forum. They might give you some helpful advice.
There's one this long weekend at Amherst, and another at the end of the month at Hill End NSW.

Haven't you got a working gold mine up the hill from Haley St.

When using the Goldfields Guide, make sure you select the 'Gold Prospecting' checkbox. Gold prospecting is only permitted on some of the sites listed on this guide - not all of them.
