Sapphire cuff Link?

Went detecting off Browns rd in smythesdale today, was quite surprised when I detected this sunbaking, anyone got an idea of what the stone could be?

LOOK LIKE AN EARING STUD LOOKS LIKE SAPHIRE COULD BE REAL COULD BE SYNTHETIC, AS IT LOOKS LIKE THERE NOT SET IN GOLD, ID BET THEY ARE SYNTHETIC, I WOULDNT PUT REAL SAPHIRE IN GOLD OR SILVER PLATE,IN MY OPINION, CHEERS BUDDY. :Y:

Could be anything blue including glass. Need to do more testing.

That looks to me like coloured glass with reflective coating on the back (ie. costume jewellery).
