Hi all, I,m trying to locate an area around Tarnagulla or Waanyarra described as either Rakers flat or Bakers flat . If any one could steer me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

If you are looking at this resource here - https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/9070032 - it is definitely Baker's Gully. If you zoom in on the actual article you can see the text clearly. Some nice nuggets coming from there.

I can't locate it on Google, Miscellaneous Gold Maps of Vic, Town Parish maps, Google Earth with an overlay or GeoVic. Others might have some better resources.

Might be a good one to keep quiet - i.e. kept off the internet ;)

Charles Baker was one of the first prospectors in the Waanyarra area, which was notable for sizeable nuggets. The later rush in the early years of the twentieth century was apparently in the area of the Baker homestead and involved his son Alfred, with some excellent nuggets found, but none very shallow:

From Trove (https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/9070032)

10-Dec 1902:
THE WAANYARRA RUSH.
MORE NUGGETS FOUND.
DUNOLLY, Tuesday.--The rush at Baker's Flat,
Waanyarra, is still attracting considerable atten-
tion, and to-day over 500 men were on the ground.
The gold being obtained is mostly in private
ground, the sinking being about 25ft. To-day
Mr. Williamson, who got, a 34oz. nugget last
week, obtained another, about 25oz., and two ad-
ditional nuggets were got, one estimated at 30oz.
and the other 5oz. Other claims have bottomed on
gold, and for the next few days, those sinking
will be keenly watched, in order that the trend
of lead may he fixed. There is plenty of private
land, but very little Crown land.

Bakers Flat is just a stones throw from Secret Hill, it's true! ......and I'm sorry to tease but you would be interested to know that the big nuggets that were found at Waanyarra were won from shallow leads (buried ancient watercourses). Certain surface vegetation growth patterns point to the location of these hidden shallow leads and the old timers would sink a shaft down to the ancient river bed and followalong them by tunnelling. The sinking at Bakers Flat was 25ft - how good is your 'tector? not to mention that digging down a mere 3ft is challenging in that country in the dry months.

Mmmmm, near Secret hill ,a lot of private land ,not much crown land. I reckon I know where Bakers flat is ,if our friend Casper is correct.
Cheers Crushed
