Here's a couple Quartz samples I found from my recent trip to South Australia. Due to the location, some were made quite visible from the surface due to erosion. There were bigger ones but did not want to carry them for 6km ;)

They are very nice in person and under light they are sparkly and shinny. Quartz crystals with sand covering them.

Hello Martin I am new to this. How are you ? I am liliane, I would like to know where did you find them? I am learning a bit about crystals and would like some help please, thanks a lot , bye for now
 
Why do you consider them quartz - difficult to know from a photo, but they don't look like that to me. What is their hardness? Have you dropped some vinegar on them?
 
I have come across something similar, might even be the same, also from SA. Not sure what it is either, was thinking maybe calcite? Seemed to be lots of them and some quite big. Here's a small one:
