Native Platinum is "heavier" (higher specific gravity) than gold, about eight times that of aluminium. Why don't you determine Specific gravity - it is easy to do and will almost certainly give a definitive answer - in this case much more sensitive than other methods?

Gold 19.30

Lead 11.34

Copper 8.96

Aluminium 2.70

The flame test for copper is also sensitive - green to bluish green for copper (aluminium gives white, platinum gives no colour to the flame)

That is why I posted the various tests - so many minerals can be easily identified using them (you guys make life hard for yourselves).

Native copper is common in the basal part of the Late Devonian rocks around the Macalister River and adjoining areas. No gold with it.
