Thanks Guys, still beaming with the cricket buckle find, it has lots of character than the stumps and bat I had envisaged when I penned out my first detecting bucket list.

Just gave it a clean with a brass burnishing brush and it has come up a treat. I have decided not to attempt straightening it out for fear that the thin metal will crack or at least ruin the years of weathering and accumulated character.

I think I will make a frame for it and mount it as it is, with an appropriate backdrop :)

I have a pic of that buckle flat, but I'm not permitted to upload photos, pic is only 40kb

added: didn't like the long file name with numbers in it for some reason...

Darcy Doyle ?

The backdrop prints are by John Darbyshire, the first being the Main Street of Hill End.

Would be good if Darcy Doyle did a cricket painting at Hill End, will need to have bit of a search. If anyone knows of one, please let me know.

So what do you do with the by-catch..........since ramjet and rocketoo had their genuinity dispute a couple of years ago over the infamous 1947 florin I have been hoarding them without a purpose...........until now.

As it happens, the mother-in-law was born in 1947 and said some possive words about one of the stones I cut, so something had to be done.

After a few design iterations, I settled on a bangle. I still need to finish the texture on the shield but happy with todays efforts.

Went through my finds pouch and sorted out a few relics from my recent trip to Hill End, always enjoy finding old tools, buckles and pocket watches. The elephant gun cartridge was a cool find, guess they were expecting drop-bears to be real.
