Found something quite interesting today. Think it might be my first Vicky head coin but not sure what it is. Looks like silver and all I can make out so far is the word HALF. Also got my first shiny penny and a couple of silvers so a good arvo at the beach after a fruitless morning chasing gold in the hills.
Edit, after a bicarb rub and some googling I reckon it might be an 189_ half crown

Got permission to detect and old farmhouse site on the weekend. After descriminating my way through massive amounts of junk this is what I came up with. Gotta love the recovery speed of the Nox English and Aussie thrippies plaque wishing someone many happy returns of the day And my favorite of the day, a little lead airplane.

Yeah, was great to find some different stuff and a couple of coppers with a patina rather than a crust! Will have to drop the florrie off to the owner to say thanks. Got plenty of 47 ones now.

Did well at the old farmhouse, I wonder whether there was a fire there at some stage looking at the smaller silvers. What was the tag with the hole in it? :Y:

That's how all the 925 silvers come out of the ground here. Something to do with mineralization, lots of sulfides I reckon, and quite annoying! The tag has got 1ton 1951-52 stamped on it. Was an apple orchard years ago so assuming it was off a crate of apples. My mate found a few stencils of weights and numbers cut out of copper sheets too. Only got through the immediate yard area so will have to head back to check out the paddocks and creek soon.

Love the toy plane....They don't make toys like they used too and seeing more lead toys come out of the ground is great.
