Thanks everyone, I like the ring and Kiara loves it.... :)

So I got out today for a solo dig as Kiara wanted to stay home... It was such a beautiful sunny day....

The finds came in intervals, one of the best ones was after talking to an old timer who mentioned travelling around the GT and getting some
gold....He also told me of a dump in the ocean and supposedly a guy he knows still goes there to hunt for old Bottles and whatever else he can
find.
Anyway this is a first for me and I was quite happy too as it was my first good find. :)

Looking forward to getting out again when the weather is nice......
Until then happy detecting everyone...

Cheers GDA :) :Y:

Nice mixed bag GDA

You just regurgitated a memory of my first beach detector hunt, in fact first hunt ever, it was with my hot new (for me) gumtree FT-1600. Jumped out of the car, walked down the beach track, turned the machine on and flicked the thongs off onto the dune beside the track to get going. got a surprise when the first thong landed next to a $5 note. :rainbow:

Thought this is a pretty good machine, hadnt even put the coil on the ground and it was paying dividends. :D  :D

What is your relic ?

Hey Wally I am not sure mate....I found it in an old park dating back to the early 1900s, was only a very quick swing as I have cleaned it out before and stopped in before hitting the beach.

It looks like it is a brass trig-glide, I have it soaking in S&V

So I've managed to get out for 2 short digs and 1 longer Saturday dig over the past few weeks...
Rain and wind and more rain and wind....

The finds are slowly coming along and I a m happy if I can detect one coin on a dig....I've learned to be happy no matter what I find,
the enjoyment of spending time with my daughter is priceless......
Kiara also found $8 in surface finds and did a lot better than me with a detector around the beach huts which are being hammered by big tides.
Anyway I have booked in with a new detecting buddy for Saturday Fortnight to do a full day dig so I may be pulling out a few silvers and who knows what else.

The square copper nail came from a plank of wood, there were a few scattered boards on the beach....
Not sure if there was ever a ship wreck in the area and would have to research more to find out....

Sun is shining well today with a slight breeze but I have things to do around the home so no detecting...
Of note the X-Terra 705 died and so now I am using the X-Terra 505 again and boy did I miss it... All the finds above were found using the 505
one interesting thing is a coin I found with the 505 that the 705 missed and Kiara and I have been over the exact spot several times.

Anyway all the best and happy detecting.
Cheers GDA :) :Y:
