If I Knew Then What I Know Now.

Oh! would that I could speak
From where I'm sitting now
To my younger self just starting out
Bereft of furrowed brow.

"Come sit my lad", I'd have to say
Take time to think things through
For I have lived an interesting life
Come sit and hear me through.

Your life will lead you far and wide
To places you cannot have dreamed
And all along you'll blunder on
As things will never be quite like they seemed.

Still you'll toil away and earn your pay
Yet, you'll live from week to week
'Twill be many years before you've saved
Enough cash of which to speak.

Oh, you'll blunder on and sing your song
And dream of things to come
And you'll sow your oats and have your votes
And wish to meet that sweet someone.

You'll come to understand that to be your own man
You'll have to tow the line
And you'll lose a few friends but you'll know in the end
The meaning of 'Old Lang Syne'.

And you'll come to know that the seeds you sow
Produce fruits of which you must reap
When your children come by many nights will you sigh
As you blunder on without sleep.

And the Mother of those whom kept you awake
Will be with you for the rest of your life
She'll be by your side when you're swamped by life's tide
And your certain you're heart surely will break.

And so my young man If you first have a plan
Then Providence will provide for the rest
Don't be deterred from dreaming young man
Go out there and give it your best.

For the world that you knew will be soon out of view
And the future is beyond your vision
And a Brave New World like a flag will be unfurled
Make certain it does not become your prison....

Quiet and Solitude.
Ahhh... the quiet and the solitude of peacful restful morn
the cacophony of birds does not detract at all
neither does the fridges drone
nore the sounds from distant cars
or the background sound from insects bound for what I know not why
but that peacful sigh and yawning breath
that care not lack of try
a peacful rest no thoughts of zest
that time that can slip bye
no pressure on from anywhere
no thoughts to have a care
now if I could just go back to sleep
how life would be so grand.....

Pain of Life.
Pain of life is there for sure
in one way or another
but be it harsh or be it mild
it's there sisters and brothers
it could be just a little pain
a visiting awhile
or mayhap it's a mental type
that's festering and vile
perhaps the pain is physical
a torment through and through
or one such as a broken heart
from someone dear and true
maybe it's from empathy
with world force crushing down
or just from all the tears you've cried
enough for to have drowned
it matters though to you or me
just what our pain entails
and how we press on through with life
no tragic to prevail
so fear not where you must forth tread
for pain is just... inside your head.

MANDY
A deep void is in our home and our hearts today
As our "Beautiful Baby Girl" Mandy passed away.
16 years and 9 months old, all that time she was pure gold.
10.45 yes'day morn, the wind was still for the bell had tolled.
Pain no more and at peace she be,
Our Beautiful Angel now with Tiffany.
You precious girl, a joy to hold
I remember the day the lady said "SOLD".
A tiny little girl with deep brown eyes,
It was only the start of a great surprise.
All those years and nothing but love,
Now you look after us from high on above.
Miss you we will, every night and day
You're Loving Kiss, a Memory to Stay.
Saying goodbye was not with ease,
We Love You Mandy,
"Our Baby Girl Maltese".

Always with us, always in our hearts and thoughts.

Many thanks ManPa,7.62mm, silver and PabloP, your support is very comforting to me.
I don't know why these things happen but today my wife and I attended the funeral of a beautiful friend of ours that passed away last week from complications after Breast Cancer 5 years ago.
These last two weeks I never want to experience again.
Thanks for the forum friends to let me grieve in my own way.
Sincerely
Mackka

Mackka...just saw your above posts....Thank you for using this section to share your grief with us ...I too recently lost a dear friend from that terrible disease...and the loss of our animal friends is a terrible thing.Your words were beautifully said.Chin up mate! :8

When I'm down and dusted,my wallet busted
And my chin near touches the floor
I just go to the forum and with humble decorum
I start writing and I'm not sad anymore.

Cause' I know there are people with whom I connect
Dozens of people whose lives have been wrecked...time after time
And who through life's university have overcome adversity
And it's all done with one little rhyme.

The New Stockade.
If I alone must stare into the night
Or seek the noon day shade
With little rounds to breach into my gun
I'll defend the New Stockade.

When all around me fall in battle
Their blood splattered on my shoes
I'll hold my post,my courage unrattled
The Last of the Silver and Blues.

Though a bitter wind may chill my bones
And the ghosts of the fallen come moaning
I'll draw my coat up against the wind
My bayonet needs not honing

For the forces that were resisted in 1854
Have reared their greedy heads once more
See them coming up the slope
Just as they did before.

They've all new arms and high-tech tools
And satellites to spy on us
But they have the same foul stench as the traps of old
And their intent is no less greivous

The New Stockade is under construct
It's walls,I'll grant are thin
But new hearts pump new blood to the viens
Of those who stand within.

And should all my mates fall by the sword
No rights no liberties no common wealth
I swear to man the New Stockade
And defend it by myself...Copyright R.Langlands.2018.
