Other than faulty headphones or power cables, most other audio issues with the GPX series of detectors are caused by a fault in the audio circuitry within the battery unit.

Faults can include:

  • no audio
  • buzzing noise in audio
  • distorted audio

I have now put together a kit that can repair these faults.
The repair kit contains:

  • 2 x Schottky Diodes
  • 2 x Analogue Switches
  • 1 x Op Amp IC
  • basic instructions

Soldering these components is not for the faint hearted. If you cant solder connections the size of a pinhead, then I do offer a repair service.

Hi SteelPat, just seen this thread & what a great idea offering this repair kit. Although mine are working fine at the moment, 1 of my 2 batteries is getting a bit old & being a bit of an electronics enthusiast (yes I know which end of a soldering iron NOT to grab {) ), I envisage being able to do this repair myself. I just went over & ordered 2 of these for pre-emptive future use. Thanks for sharing. :Y:
