As part of my Brother-in-law's Estate, I have been given a 1925 Australian Penny... I have done some research and the value is very confusing. hmm .. $400-$17000
I know nothing about Coins except using them to buy stuff.... roll

So, I have put up some details and I am hoping Someone can help.... The Details may be a bit mixed up, but I will try my best...

Condition is very good only a bit Tarnished... I don't want to clean it as I have no idea how to do that, or if I should...

1925 Australian Penny
George IVS... not too sure if it's a 'S' or a '5' ?
VDG BRITT
OMN REX
F.D IND. IMP

Any Ideas??

LW.....

It's a scarce coin with only 117000 minted, do not clean it at all. Could be worth a bit. Call a coin dealer, they may make you an offer.

G’day LW

Lucky boy

The 1925 is a rare one , hopefully it’s nit a fake

There should be a few coin dealers in Brisbane ..?

Ask them for a price to grade it ..?

Some info grading Here http://www.tdkapdc.com.au/australian-penny2c-1925.html

If they ask you to buy it from you , they will probably offer you bugger all

If it's a proof coin you'd put a couple of zeros on. Scarce and rare are very different for example with the 1930 penny there were only 1200 minted.

Anyway, hope you get a good valuation on it. thumbsup

Lone wolf for your reference

https://www.sterlingcurrency.com.au/res … pper-coins

Going on this next link I would say value of $135 to $8000 as it is very unlikely that it will be of about uncirculated or uncirculated value.
