Hi Bec,

Check this out

Macpherson's is the place to go for Sapphires, Zircon and a little bit of gold. You will need a fossicking permit as it is in a state forest.

Quartz crystals are quiet common just check out the out crops on the way in, some are better than others in that the crystals range from tiny up to thumb size.

I still haven't gotten round to checking out the fossil area so cant help there.

Cheers

Col

You might like to go to Tomalla:

and fossick in the creek alongside the roadway that runs beside the creek and across it on several occasions.
This is an area which contains fossils of dinosaurs and marble.

"Sapphires are reported to have been obtained from Holocene alluvial deposits in the creeks draining Barrington Tops and Gloucester Tops.
The sapphires are mainly blue but many reddish to mauve gems are present. Some of the red gems have been positively identified as rubies."
Locations such as: https://www.google.com/maps/@-31.9117257,151.5200709,1028m/data=!3m1!1e3 are worth exploration.
