Interesting story and unusual that the hoard can be linked to an identified historical figure. And, yes, bluetooth is named after the old Danish king.

Yes Whisp that is correct. Also in the UK and most other countries in Europe.Hoards like this are claimed by the government. How unfair is that.

On the contrary, modern UK law on ancient finds (http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1996/24/contents), deals fairly with all parties involved - including landowners and treasure finders/metal detectorists - who are rewarded accordingly, to encourage the reporting of significant discoveries:
