All my equipment is black or green, what do you think is the best colour to contrast with gold ?

for some reason or another, I never bring any gold home ;)

other than that, I find blue contrasts well, Minelab, Keene, Estwing, Proline.

I grabbed my kid a pan called a Trinity Bowl in pink, she kills it. Yesterday she used my blue Banjo pan for the first time, once she got the hang of it she was getting 15-20 colours per pan and was over the moon.

You just need to find a pan that you pan well with and is comfortable to use for extended periods, I used to use those generic black pans with the 3 raised ridges.
The dogs now use them as food & water bowls.

I pan mostly with green Garrett, because I like them and I tend to capture ~all~ the gold even speed panning, something I would not be comfortable doing with some other designs.

Green or blue. I'd say you want something that is in contrast to gold and black sands.
Cheers :Y:
