Good work sorting that out Bob :Y: as a quick fix I think your best option is to replace the battery when you can though. I'm with you on the 12 volt charging. When it comes to 240 at home I just hook the 12 volt up to a battery via a 12 volt charger until charged.
 
I was searching old threads looking to see if you can buy a new circuit board for the 7.4 68Wh battery. My battery got some water in it, I thought it had dried out. So I plugged in the 240 charger and boom! Blew the charger to bits, I then pulled apart the battery and checked the board, seems ok. Haven't tested it tho.

So now im a little nervous to plug in.
Does anybody know how to test the board?

I would just re assemble the battery and plug the 12 volt plug into it and see if it works or not. The cig pighter plug end has a fuse in it so if there is a power feed back the fuse should blow b4 any damage is done.
