Opps that is calling on authority - but only to make the point that I am not getting my own info just off websites.

Yes. Correct. Professor wasn't doing the reaction. And it was AR in video but you couldn't make out the Nitrogen Dioxide fumes. Nasty guys they are.

If so maybe I posted the wrong url - it should look like the image I posted.

Nope. my url was correct - it shows the fumes clearly:

I think you misread my post. I was stating that you can't see the Nitrogen Dioxide in the Periodic Video I posted. Your pics show the NO2.

I will tell you what is dangerous.

I sprayed a cockroach in the hallway the other day and got a good backdraft from the spray. I have never lost my breath as bad as I did that day. I even started to feel pitty for the roaches. Dangerous stuff that is.

NIGHT EVERYONE

For the chemists only (and those who might be confused at seeing gas over aqua regia whether or not a metal is added to it):

Aqua regia decomposes so should be made fresh:

i.e. when mixed up it gives of gas which is a mixture of nitrosyl chloride and chlorine, which react with oxygen in the air to also give minoir nitrous dioxide. This is a slow process so the volume of toxic gas at any time is small

However when you add most metals to the aqua regia (eg gold):

It reacts with the chlorine in solution to give metal ion complexes (such as chloroaurate ions) and gives off a large volume of nitrogen dioxide (which can occur rapidly and voluminously depending on the metal being dissolved and is potentially very dangerous)
