Started the New Year at Brighton beach at 12.45am New Years day 2 hrs for nothing so went back a day later to work the low water mark for a total of $11.95 Went to a park at Marion a day later for $21.10 Then next day to the beach again for $8.80 and 2 indian coins 1rupee circa 1918 and a 1/4 Rupee circa 1935 A trip to Henley Beach for zero.Went to another park at Marion tday of which i have done several times before with my 705 for a few dollars But tday using the ctx in the same park $10 and this had been there for quite a while. So far Beaches 4 trips for $20.75 and Parks 2 trips for $31.10 But no silver or gold at either.Last years total of silver rings 15 & silver chains 5 But still no gold.Hopefully this year i will find the elusive gold rings But so far parks are winning & easier to walk just harder to dig with my trusty screwdriver

well it was time to spend some of the money i have found First off to minelab for a 14x9 coil for the ctx & a proswing harness cause those coils are heavy.Having sold my Minelab sand scoop I ordered a sand scoop from sito in brisbane & it is 1 1/2 kilo lighter than Minelab one. A bit of work on the lathe made up an alumimium spiggot to take the aluminium handle Very happy with the weight.Had been my intetion to hit the beach tday but you guessed it bloody bad weather so off to a park at Marion.Well half an hour in n down comes the rain but thats ok the ctx is waterproof Problem was i wasnt so i got wet Time to go home n change my clothes.I did leave with $4 and 4 cents but no old coins Maybe the beach will be ok tomorrow.Monday its of to Moana with a guy i met on Brighton beach for some gold rings HAHA :)

Now the trip to Brighton was crappy no parks near jetty so had to travel about 2kms north of jetty to an area i havnt done before for 3 Squid jags 1 Silver Earring an a small gun I think its calibre is h2o 1 bottle top n 3 sparkler wires So now i know why i dont really bother with this part of the bea ch but the sand scoop worked well on the earing It was down round 5 in & it was very easy to drag behing me

Hi Flyrodder, any chance on getting the details on your sand scoop, price, retailer Ric.
Thanks in advance.
sand scoop is sito n price is $129 plus $25 postage It doesnt come with a handle so i spent time on the lathe n made my handle from aluminium Type in sito sand scoop n find them on ebay But i can say i found it much better n lighter than Minelabs scoop

Dave Graham n myself hit Moana beach this morn 2 1/2 hrs for nothing other than the occasional bottle top some hot rocks n sparkler wires. As dave said one of the cleanest beaches he had struck. Had to keep checking the detector every now n then just to make sure it was working :( :N:

Nice one mate, what method do you use to clean your coppers?

You are doing well on the finds

Good photos !

There are always a few lurkers on forums , so dont be surprised that some of your regular Goldie spots dry up on occasions .

Keep at it , its a great hobby :D
