Good evening everyone.

Ive sold my 705 which I owned for 2 years looking for coins and relics but now I'm living in Melbourne for work and Ive been going to the gold fields a lot with my good mate and fellow PA member Chukyboy. On the weekends Ive been renting a 2300 from the friendly crew at Coiltek gold centre at Maryborough and I been having some good luck finding gold the last 4 times Ive been out but the time has come to buy a Gpx as I want to start finding some bigger yellow and a little less lead shot haha.

So I'm looking at buying a 4000 or 4500. From what I've already read on the forum the 4000 is still a capable machine that runs very smooth but a 4500 has a extra timings and will run a little more stable in hot ground. (Correct me if I'm wrong just going on what I've researched so far)?
Used 4000's are going for $1800 to $2000 while 4500's still command $2700 to $3000 used while being $3500 new.
For me it's a big price jump to a 4500 is it really worth it and what are your experiences? I have used the 4500 before and I liked it but has anyone owned or still ows a 4000?

Thanks!

I believe the latest version 4500 is the best deal going out there for a pi nugget detector, you get the stabilizer control that doesn't come with the 4000, as well as some better timings for certain conditions. The 4500 is still being serviced by the factory too. Not sure the 4000 is.

Wimbo no bs go for a 4500 if second hand make sure it is one of the latest models .I have had a 4000 a 5000 and several 4500 the latest 4500 are not far behind a 5000 ,the coin is a 5 cent piece I was using a 12 evo with a steel pat enhancer the gold is from the last few times out regards john :Y:

I just bought a 4500 and my father uses a 4000.
4000 is a great machine but I'd pay the extra money for the enhance timing on the 4500 alone. The stabilizer is also very handy.
The ability to almost make noisy clay and hot rocks disappear saved me so much digging, the last time I was out i pulled an extra 3 bits of gold out of a patch littered with hot rocks that had been missed before I bought the 4500.

That machine is a very good buy.
Well worth it. :Y: :Y:
I own one but cannot comment on a 4000.
Very good advice about "Get the best you can."

just looked on the for sale section there is a 4500 6 month old for $2900 the warranty can be transferred to you regards john :Y: :(

Exact combo I am running and I love it. Don't discard the original 11" mono either, with the commander and 17 X 13 you have a pretty good combo.

That's a great price too!

Thanks Gaz! I'm hoping it arrives before this weekend, can't wait to get out there and use it. Have you been out for a swing lately?
