Hi all, I found a piece of Smokey half poking out of the ground. It looks like its been sand blasted so l guess its been exposed to the elements for a while its about 5 inches long and 1 inch in diameter. How do l get it smooth and shiny again? Or should l leave it as it is?

Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Its probably been in a stream/waterway, with sand rubbing against it. If you wanted to, you may be able to find a local gem club with 'cabbing', cutting or polishing machines

If its terminated (an actual crystal with a point), keep searching the area for more. If they become not as waterworn/rounded and more crisp edges, youre getting closer to a source.

Sometimes gems can travel far however.. the rounder a rock is, the further its travelled

If you like, try mineral oil to get rid of the scratchy surface or try clear nail polish (can be removed with nail polish remover/acetone if it doesnt work out. Will not damage the rock)
