Well the heavens opened up this afternoon and I knew eventually it would stop....Stop it did around 7 pm with just a little sprinkle here and there.
I went to the beach knowing the cleaner had been and it did a good job, nothing but 5c 10c 20c....So I hit the wet sand and boom $2 then another....
It soon dried up and I had to think of somewhere else to swing and so into the water I go with my 10" DD Round coil which is not waterproof....
It's a shame because it is perfect and not even a whimper, just silent until it runs over a target, I loved being in the water and I loved finding more Goldies....
Before leaving I kept swinging all the way up to the steps and hit on a nice crisp 38 signal and I knew it was Silver.....Pandora is back on the menu...

Hi gda, well done great hunt.
I enjoy reading your posts. I'm a newbie & am still learning how to use the Xterra 705 & can say I am totally addicted.
With the coil you say you used in the water was that the 10.5" dd coil?
Cheers tony.

Yes the 10.5" DD Round Coil....The thing is I know it's not waterproof but it is relatively new and I am taking a chance that it won't leak and I know it may well leak eventually but I am willing to take the risk... It is rain proof and washable but was never designed to be submerged.
It's a shame because it is perfect for water detecting... :Y:

Thought I'd show my collection of cars that I have found detecting, also surface finds...Some never made it onto the posts because I never did a post for my finds of the night or I deleted the photos and never bothered to take another one.

These ones are hidden in a box somewhere from the move...

How big is your collection growing?

Mine all found new owners asap if they were still any good, or they got left at the beach in a prominent postion so someone could claim them. :Y:

Yeah if there are little kiddies around I give them the cars otherwise I bring them home for Abraham... :)

Yeah Goldpick mate if I can ever get them all together, I have a box of stuff I never took pictures off or posted....Not because they aren't good finds but because I put them away before taking pics and then I couldn't be bothered pulling them all out again....Absent mindedness I believe it's called... :)

I got out on Friday night for an hour to the old 1850s site and was very surprised that I managed to pull out a few good targets.....
I've been over this place many times and I know some targets are deep deep but I am not willing to make a mess of the place as it looks like someone else has been there hunting for relics/coins, the reason I say that is because of the loose soil and also finding a buckle piece left in that loose soil only an inch underneath.
Maybe when I upgrade detectors I will go back and do another sweep to see what else I can find.

The weekend turned up some nice weather which turned into Thunderstorms late in the afternoon....
Kiara and I went for a swing Saturday night anyway and again I did some more water hunting pulling out coins, it's exciting hearing the beep and thinking ohhh this could be a ring but alas just another coin.
The finds.....

Sunday was another nice day and although the beach was packed there wasn't a lot of offer....Within the first 5 minutes I hit on a ring....Turned out to be bling Amethyst ring and a very nice one....
I only got the one find from that section of beach and so I moved onto the pier....I was there 15 minutes and two young detectorists came towards me...Yup Sam and Jess...
After doing some research on their detector the Garrett 400i I set it up for them and had it purring a long like a kitten, their swinging technique needs a little work but other than that it performed well both on the dry and wet sand and even better in the water with no chatter at all.
They got some coins and were happy and I got my detecting buddies... :)
I ran the 10.5" DD Round Coil again and got a few coins, junk jewellery/bling and a great appreciation for life in the form of a stranded Octopus....The little fella got stranded and I actually thought it was dead, I got the camera out and took a photo, Sam walked up to have a look and then it moved and so I picked it up and put it into the water.... :)
And yes I got the coil wet again and yes it found 5c, 10c, 20c, 45c coin spill...lol
The finds...
